About Earth Matters Foundation
Earth Matters Foundation uses storytelling to make science and nature accessible to the public. We work from a simple belief: people protect what they understand and love.
Our Roots
Earth Matters began in the 1990s as an environment series on Indian television, produced by Riverbank Studios, which has told stories of conservation for five decades. The Foundation was founded in 2009 to take that work to the public through film.
What We Do Today
We build a stronger ecosystem for environmental and wildlife documentary in Asia. Greenstories, our annual forum in Goa, was launched in 2024 with Dusty Foot Foundation and Documentary Resource Initiative. It supports a selected cohort of filmmakers through incubation, mentorship and pitching to industry. We partner with Pabhoi Greens, supporting its work with farmers in Northeast India, and we draw on the Riverbank Studios archive of films that helped shape wildlife protection in India.
We also fund work led by others. The Dudhsagar–Khandepar Chronicles, a river and riverbank-plant project in Goa, was carried out by The Foundation for Rivers and Ecosystems, the NHOI–Goa River Draw Project and Bookworm Trust, with financial support from Earth Matters Foundation. The project report was prepared by Neethi Mahesh, Trustee, The Foundation for Rivers and Ecosystems.
Our Journey

2024: Greenstories is launched.
Earth is our only home. Let’s protect it.
